Chritmas 2015 styling

Christmas has always been a magical time of the year for me going way back into my childhood where the whole extended family of aunts and uncles, grand parents and cousins.  We would hired a hotel to celebrate it in together.
For me its is a time to play and a time to create. This year I dressed up with what I could find in my theatrical wardrobe, as a Victorian lady, to add to the styling effect. The Victorian Christmas seen in books is where it all began and is very hard to recapture their opulence and theatre which they did so well.
I change  my theme  every year. It is exciting for the grand children to enter my little Christmas cave and for the whole family to be all together which is hard now our family consist of 14 people and another one on the way and all with very busy lives.
I wish you all, where ever you are, a very joyful, healthy and happy new year.  Here’s to 2016.2015-12-29_00032015-12-29_00042015-12-29_00052015-12-29_00062015-12-29_00072015-12-29_00082015-12-29_00092015-12-29_00102015-12-29_00112015-12-29_00122015-12-29_00132015-12-29_00142015-12-29_00152015-12-29_00162015-12-29_00172015-12-29_00182015-12-29_00192015-12-29_00202015-12-29_00212015-12-29_00222015-12-29_00232015-12-29_00242015-12-29_00252015-12-29_00262015-12-29_00272015-12-29_00282015-12-29_00292015-12-29_0030

Seb & Daisy’s Wedding – Ravello Italy

I am sharing a few photos of my sons wedding this May in Ravello, Italy on the Amalifi coast with you – it was so elegant, charming with this romantic Italian venue Villa Eva. My son chose to be married in Ravello where his father has a home and where he spent many wonderful holidays. It was an amazing day that I shall never forget. Styled Shoot Photographed by Penny Young

It was lovely to see more photos from my Whimsical Wedding shoot on photographer Penny Young’s blog recently. Take a look at her photos from the beautiful day here.

Screen shot 2014-11-08 at 17.35.02

Screen shot 2014-11-08 at 17.30.24

Here are her words about the experience.

“In May I was lucky enough to spend the day at Whipley Manor Farm along with a small group of other photographers and the very talented event stylist Christine Maciocia Christine had put together a beautiful styled shoot based on a Whimsical Wedding theme and had enlisted our models, real life couple Christine and Will, and then set about recreating a wedding day for them.

There was a beautiful vintage styled table in the orchard for tea and a chest of drawers filled with flowers.  Candelabra’s and shabby chic furniture, lots of beautiful flowers and many little details that were created by hand by Christine. During the afternoon we shot the couple with some beautiful horses and then a vintage trailer pulled byWill and his tractor (Whipley is a working farm!).

Styled shoots are a fabulous way for photographers to push their creative envelope and to try new things, play around with their camera and their style of shooting without the pressure of having to deliver work to a client.  Often there’s more time and, unless you organise the shoot yourself, there’s generally other photographers to chew the cud with, which is always nice.  The shoots usually have a theme or a concept which tends to be far more extravagant and stylised than your average wedding, although they do often have an achievable feel and include individual elements which are there to inspire brides and give them ideas for their own weddings.

I love love love shooting styled shoots and I learn something new at each one which then feeds into my work for my clients so it’s a win win for everyone!

I think these images speak for themselves and show just how talented Christine is and what an amazingly wonderful day she put together for us all.”

Thank you Penny!

Whimsical Wedding Photo Shoot

I am constantly amazed when I style a shoot, how it can even possible to make it better from the last. It shows that imagination is a magical ingredient that makes your dreams come true.

The day was made all the more delightful working with talented photographers, being fired up and enthusiastic by the different sets on the day.

While having a buffet lunch in the bale barn, the creative group shared laughter making the whole day fun for all. I find it fascinating to see the end results from each photographer who are talented in their own way.

They photograph the same styled shoot as each other, yet produce different effects, like we all have individual handwriting, though we might be writing the same words.

The photographers brought inspiration and fun to the day. They were a lovely group and very appreciative.

Whipley Manor Farm has vistas all around, giving a feast for the eyes. A massive thank you to Caitlin Fahy for loan of her pony, Moonshine Boy and a big thank you to Vicki Glynn for the loan of her stunning show cob, Red Rock. These horses were stars in their own right, with personality and endearing natures.

Christine and William were the ideal couple having only recently married. Their love for each other shone throughout the day. Their rescue dog thoroughly enjoyed being photographed, and looked like a real diva on the trailer.

The hens were yet another extra to enhance the shoot. My helper worked tirelessly with me through challenging weather elements, such as gusty winds blowing props off the table in the Orchard. Luckily the sun finally arrived in the afternoon and a massive thank you to photographer Nikki Sheffield for the use of her stunning images which you see here. The full set of images are on her blog – www.nikkisheffieldphotographer.co.uk.

Casablanca with Styled Contemporary Wedding Table

ChristineMaciocia

We are thrilled to have this shoot featured in Boho-Wedding Online Magazine.

Loved by Boho

I was given the opportunity to style a shoot for photographer Kate Hopewell-Smith, from any choice of film or book about a love story. After viewing Monika Dysons (bespoke interior designer) Moroccan style home in Berkshire I decided this would be the perfect location for the Casablanca shoot. At present this house is on the market – details below.

I feel very blessed and honoured to have worked alongside such talented and creative people in their own field, on this shoot.

Styling is my joy and comes naturally to me. It’s as if I am given a massive blank canvas on which I am free to express myself. Being an imaginative person and a colour enthusiast by nature, I find styling comes easily to me.

This is different to most shoots because of the use of noir lighting – Kate is a master of her art and this effect, which adds drama and takes one back to the 30s when cinema noir used long shadows effects in many of their black and white films.

This shoot was exceptional, because everybody that was on it contributed to the whole with their amazing talents, which you can explore further on their websites given below.
