Casablanca with Styled Contemporary Wedding Table

We are thrilled to have this shoot featured in Boho-Wedding Online Magazine.

Loved by Boho

I was given the opportunity to style a shoot for photographer Kate Hopewell-Smith, from any choice of film or book about a love story. After viewing Monika Dysons (bespoke interior designer) Moroccan style home in Berkshire I decided this would be the perfect location for the Casablanca shoot. At present this house is on the market – details below.

I feel very blessed and honoured to have worked alongside such talented and creative people in their own field, on this shoot.

Styling is my joy and comes naturally to me. It’s as if I am given a massive blank canvas on which I am free to express myself. Being an imaginative person and a colour enthusiast by nature, I find styling comes easily to me.

This is different to most shoots because of the use of noir lighting – Kate is a master of her art and this effect, which adds drama and takes one back to the 30s when cinema noir used long shadows effects in many of their black and white films.

This shoot was exceptional, because everybody that was on it contributed to the whole with their amazing talents, which you can explore further on their websites given below.

Christmas at my Home!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

I had fun creating a playful, colourful Christmas in my cottage, which delighted and excited my 7 grand children aged 4-15 years old, and to my surprise, the adults as well! I hope you enjoy the images.

I love styling for any occasion, and am here to contribute to any event or celebration to help inspire the day. Do get in touch if you are planning an event and would like to discuss your plans so far and how I may be able to serve you.

The next blog in January will be feast a for the eyes with an exceptional team of artists working together to create something beautiful and exotic. I can’t wait to be able to share it with you!

Thank you again for your support in 2013, I was thrilled to see how many viewers I had on my blog this year, and after reviewing my annual statistics I found that if the concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people it would take about 4 sold-out performances for the amount of viewers I have had to see the blog!

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

A Selection of my Favourite Photos from my Shoots and Creations in the Last Year!

As an events and set stylist I’ve been lucky enough to meet some creative people and work with some amazing photographers.

As a finale to the end of the year I’m putting in a few reminders of past shoots. I’d like to thank the photographers who came on to my shoots particularly Nikki Sheffield and the models who worked with me… Everyone gave me inspiration to dig deep and find the treasure inside my creative self, which I hope inspired their pictures.

Recently I was fortunate enough to be invited to style a shoot for one of the most celebrated photographers in the country who’s globally recognised. The shoot is a feast for the eyes and a gift to the soul. I look forward to sharing it with my viewers as soon as I’m allowed to release the images!

For me it was the cherry on the cake! I can’t wait to share it with you!

Looking back on my shoots I’m pleased to say they still delight me in their own way, for their free spirited, imaginative expression. I am doubly lucky because not only do I style and create the sets and story-line, but as a textile artist, I was able to create many of the props, such as the cake, tablecloths, lampshades etc and dressed the fairy Bride & Groom and made their crowns etc.

My textile art can be found in early blog posts. I hope you enjoy reflecting on these photos. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I’m personally super excited to create much more in 2014!

Birthday Play Date

Last month I styled a photo-shoot around Jessicas birthday, to remind us that children can have fun playing and inventing games in wigwams, picnics with their favourite toys, climbing on logs, dressing up in grannies old clothes for a vintage tea party look. I hasten to add this was only for dressing up, not an authentic shoot, hence the wellingtons! They enjoyed dancing in tutus like little ballerinas! Instead of sitting in front of computers, grunting, not playing with friends. Children don’t play as I did as a child, they’re missing out on nature, laughter, make-believe and imagination… Today their play is all to do with gadgets, loosing their imagination and their childhood adventure.

I’d like to thank Donna Bright from Monkeys from Heaven for making the fabulous tutus.

This shoot comes from my inner childhood memories, I like the dressing up box, the tutus gave me huge delight, they looked like little water faries. The vintage tea party I thought was incredibly beautiful with the water behind. This was really to demonstrate how much fun one can have with ones friends and some imagination!

A big thank you to all the children who took part! Without them it wouldn’t have been so charming to look at.

I was very grateful to have had two wonderful photographers who worked on my last shoot also, which was hugely successful, the talented Rosie Cutbill and Evelyn Rose.

I would love to share some of the photographs taken, beginning with my own photos, because I can never resist to capture the scene because it’s so delightful, albeit I’m not a professional photographer.

Here are some of Evelyn Rose’s images from the day which captured the mood…

Holiday in Italy

I love this part of Italy so much and I like to share it with friends, so for the last twelve years I have been taking different friends to share this beautiful experience, between Ravello, Positano and Amalfi.

It feeds my soul and my spirit, as it does all the guests that have been there.

One of the treats is that we stay in a private home, so a big thank you to Giovanni from all of us. It stands on the side of a mountain over looking the sea, Ravello and Amalfi, and is part of an Italian community where there are no tourists. One feels part of an Italian family when staying there!

In Ravello, one can get the 5 star hotels, celebs and luxury, concerts and shops. Amalfi offers a little boat to take out, to explore the beautiful coast, swim, eat fresh fish in the restaurants in the caves and visit Positanos beautiful churches and shops.

Here are this years images captured, which I shared with my special friends Dr Michael Shepherd and his creative wife Jenny.

Outdoor concerts, mostly classical orchestras and opera are staged here in the evenings in Ravello, with beautiful views.
